Strange how life transpires...
My name is Ed Gibson, and in 1995 I was just getting started with the internet. A domain name was needed in order to explore the possibilities, and a bottle of "Ruby Red" grapefruit juice was sitting nearby. Rubyred.com was already taken, and so was born "Ruby Blue". Rubyblue.com has been used for various web projects over the years. For one extended stretch it served as a source for magnetic supplies and instructions on how to make magnetic business cards and such with your home pc and printer. A big thank you to the customers who made that period of "Ruby Blue" such a joy.
In 2002 an opportunity to move to beautiful Hawaii beckoned, and the "magnet business" went along. After all, that was the idea - internet businesses could be done from anywhere. The shipping issues proved prohibitive (yes - even with drop shipping), and rubyblue.com went into web limbo.
Sometime around 2009, my Dad emailed a scan of a postcard he bought. It was an odd picture of a banana and a plastic army man, but the interesting thing - it was 3D. That "old style, retro 3D" where you wore the funky glasses to see it. Thinking that cool 3D effect should be possible to recreate, the experimenting started, which lead to a new hobby - 3D photography.
One day, while working with some new 3D photos, a pair of 3D glasses were sitting nearby and the realization hit - "Ruby... Blue".
So there you go - RubyBlue.com - "Ruby Blue" and a whirlwind of creative ideas.
So - what (or who) is "Ruby Blue"? Perhaps an artist who makes 3D artwork? Perhaps "Ruby" and "Blue" will be characters in an upcoming children's story.
Time will tell, but for now...
Toodles,
Ruby Blue
